I Passed My Driving Test

Posted by Su Sheng Loong on 30 Jun 2008 | Tagged as: My Life

This post is just a short update of my life. Today I had my driving test and I passed it! At the beginning I was quite nervous and I had to wait for few hours there as my examiner came pretty late. Luckily, everything went quite well and eventually I passed the test. I am just exhausted now and I will go back to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.

I Hate TMnet Streamyx!

Posted by Su Sheng Loong on 15 Jun 2008 | Tagged as: My Life

Before I start writing anything relevant to the topic, I just want to wish very fathers in the world happy Father’s Day.

Okay, let’s get to the topic. If you have read about my previous posts, you should know that I do not have my own Internet connection in Kuala Lumpur. That is why I have to always visit cafes that provide wireless Internet connection. Sometimes, I have to blog in the computer centre at my college with very slow connection. It is so difficult for me to blog and do research on Internet business. You should know how annoying it is when the Internet speed goes very slow or even worse, gets disconnected.

One of my housemate decided to install the Streamyx at my house in Kuala Lumpur. I was so excited as I thought I would not have to pay money to the cafes anymore. Besides, that housemate of mine actually had done all the necessary set up and the Internet could be accessed once the TMnet activated it. After one day, a staff of TMnet called my housemate and told him that there was(is) no more port available for new Streamyx set up. I was so disappointed and irritated. Sometimes I just wonder why the Tmnet has to do so much promotion at my place while we cannot even install the Streamyx!

Finally I have returned to my hometown, in Johor Bahru. I brought my laptop back, thinking that I could fully utilize the streamyx at my home to surf the Internet. However, the connection speed is pathetically slow. On top of that, it even got disconnected for about 5 hours today. I am going to call the TMnet tomorrow and hopefully the technicians can really solve my problem.

Both Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru are the two biggest cities in Malaysia. TMnet should really make sure that these two cities have proper and stable Internet coverage. The Internet is getting more important among the people especially those who are doing Internet business. I don’t know how good the Internet connection is in Penang, but I think the Internet should be slow as well in other states.

Exam Is Over, A New Life Has Begun!

Posted by Su Sheng Loong on 15 Jun 2008 | Tagged as: My Life

Finally I finished my last exam papers yesterday. I am so happy to be able to blog again. Now I am blogging at my home in Johor Bahru. It’s great to come back home after few months staying in Kuala Lumpur. Hopefully I can meet my friends very soon.

Recently, quite a lot of things have happened. The most popular topic nowadays is definitely the issue of increased fuel price. I am not going to write about it in this post. I will just show you a picture that I took at a LRT station instead.

LRT crowded

I know. The government is encouraging the people to take public transport nowadays. But the government should also be aware that the public transport is not efficient. Even worse, as you can see in the picture, the LRT was not able to occupy all the passengers. Many of them had to wait for long time in order to get into the LRT. Even I myself had to squeeze in the crowd with my girlfriend (So pathetic!). When I say “squeeze”, I really mean that. Ironically, I did not have to worry about falling down as there was not even any space in the LRT for you to do so. Everyone was as if sticking with each other in the LRT.

Anyway, I am just happy that I am free now. I can finally begin my journey in Internet business without having to worry about my studies and academic performance. After all, I have to wait for the exam result to be released in August.

Hopefully I will manage to set up my Internet business soon. I am still doing research into every different business model and see which one does suit me. It is better to find a business that is not only profitable, but also less hassle.

Here I come, my dream!

BookFest At KLCC

Posted by Su Sheng Loong on 27 May 2008 | Tagged as: My Life

Last Saturday, I went to a book fair called “BookFest” at KLCC with my girlfriend. Actually I wanted to study at home on that day. But my girlfriend wanted to purchase some Chinese reference books. So I have to accompany her to KLCC.

Before that, we had been to a book fair as well which was held at The Mines Wonderland. After taking bus and LRT, we managed to reach there at about 1pm. As what I expected, the place was crowded and congested with book lovers. We just went around to search for books we would like to buy.

KLCC Bookfest

The books there were mostly Chinese books, which were imported mainly from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Besides, there were also many English books around being sold at great discount rate. Too bad I did not have enough money to purchase all the books I wanted.

As we kept rambling around the BookFest, we came to the end of the fair and there were many people standing there. Out of curiosity, we moved towards the crowd and guess whom we saw…

Nicholas

Nicholas Zhang Dong Liang(Left)!!!

No wonder so many people were standing and holding cameras there. The event was organized by Besta which sells electronic dictionaries. Nicholas was the artist signed and contracted by Besta to promote its products.

Few people were selected to have a game with Nicholas on the stage. The winner was the little kid(wearing yellow shirt) beside Nicholas.

Nicholas singing

After the game, Nicholas presented a song called, “Zhi Yin Wei Ni”. The song was nice and you can watch his performance in the following video.

I captured the video and photos with my handphone and I was a bit far away from the stage. So the quality of video and pictures is not so decent.

Dear At BookFest

Nicholas finished the song and he left the stage and moved to the Besta’s booth at the BookFest. So we continued to look for books. In addition, we saw two famous Malaysian bloggers selling and promoting their physical books there. They were bloggers from rawangboy.com and snowxwhite.com and they had been interviewed by Sin Chew Daily Newspaper before. If I had extra money, I would definitely buy their books.

I Am Frustrated With Examination

Posted by Su Sheng Loong on 21 May 2008 | Tagged as: My Life

Few hours ago, I just finished my very first paper in the final examination. It was a Business Studies paper. Sometimes I got very frustrated with the examination. Frankly speaking, I love business and even Business Studies. But why am I still frustrated with it? In fact, I like to study REAL business and REAL case studies rather than the boring textbook. I just feel like want to throw the textbook from the thirteenth floor. Why thirteenth floor? Because currently I am staying at the thirteenth level of the condominium.

How I hope the examination can finish as soon as possible. Anyway, the examination ends on 13 Jun (What? 13 again? I didn’t realize that when I was writing the first paragraph). I really wish to start my Internet business soon. Now I feel as if I am stuck at the middle of the road to my success.

Many people are curious about what I am doing. I am still learning everything about starting an online business. The funny thing is I read more ebooks regarding Internet business than my Business Studies textbook even if my exam has started. I can read more than 10 ebooks or special reports on Internet business in one day but I just cannot concentrate on studying the textbook for more than 10 minutes.

I am doing a different thing now compared to any 18 year teenagers. I don’t want to study the dull textbooks again. Neither do I want to have any examinations. I just want to focus on what I want to do, that is Internet business. Many people may not agree with what I am doing now. But I will prove to them that my decision is right, absolutely right.

One Day Vegetarian On Wesak Day

Posted by Su Sheng Loong on 19 May 2008 | Tagged as: My Life

My examination is around the corner and I am revising and doing all the past year examination exercises. I thought I would not be blogging for few days. But today is Wesak Day and I get bored studying the textbook. In the afternoon, I had vegetarian food as my lunch with my girlfriend and younger brother.

vegetarian food

This was my lunch just now. Actually I am not a vegetarian and I do eat a lot of meats everyday. Since today is Wesak Day and I am a Buddhist, I decided to have vegetarian food for my lunch today, and maybe for dinner later at night. Besides, the restaurant is pretty new and the vegetarian food sold there is very cheap! What you see in the picture only costs me RM2 and free drinks are available there.

Some of my Christian friends and teachers have prejudice against vegetarian foods. They dislike meat-imitated food( I don’t really know how to call it in English) and some of them told me that it is pointless to eat those foods. Frankly speaking, I respect people who are vegetarians even if they eat meat-imitated food. After all, they are not eating real meats and no animals are being slaughtered for them. In my opinion, those Christians whom I know should respect Buddhists and vegetarians. Of course I am not trying to claim that all Christians are like that. I do have Christian friends who respect other religions and are very open-minded like Ezra.

ATM Transforms Into Desktop!

Posted by Su Sheng Loong on 10 May 2008 | Tagged as: My Life

Yesterday, I went to college just to accompany my girlfriend. Actually now I need not attend any classes anymore and I am going to have examination soon. When we were about to leave the college, I wanted to withdraw some money from the automated teller machine. There were two ATMs at my college. I guess I was just unlucky, one of the two ATMs was out of function. So I just moved a little bit towards the second ATM. Guess what I saw? You better see yourself.

ATM With Windows

I was like, “man!”. The ATM had transformed into a desktop installed with Windows XP! I kept laughing and did not know what I should do as there were no other ATMs. So I just played around with this ATM. At first I thought I could really use it as a desktop. I pressed all the buttons and even touched the screen to see whether it worked or not. I thought I could transform it into…

Transformer-Bumblebee

Luckily, it did not happen. If yes then I guess my college would be destroyed. Eventually, I did not get to withdraw the money and I only left RM10 in my wallet.

(After finish writing this post, I did not know which category should I put this post into. I wanted to put this under the ‘Technology’ category as this was indeed a new ‘technology’! Anyway I just put it under ‘My Life ’section.)

Work Work Work…

Posted by Su Sheng Loong on 05 May 2008 | Tagged as: My Life

Ever since I was born, I have never taken any job. Therefore, I have ZERO working experience. Last few week, one of my classmates, Chin Hong said that he needed someone to replace him for his part time job on last weekend. I was thinking that this could be a good chance for me to gain some working experience. So I said, “hey, why not give me a try?”

That classmate of mine was more than willingly to pass his job to me. After few weeks until last Saturday, I went to the working avenue to start my very first part time job. The place was at Jusco and it is pretty near to where I am staying now. As I was new to there, I reached there quite early to ensure that I would not be late.

My job was to promote Kellogg’s products. After registering at the staff counter, my very first task was to find all my tools and samples. I kept searching for my booth and samples for quite some time. I was under a hot sun and at a very unhygienic place. After searching for about half an hour, I started to get anxious as I was supposed to start promoting at that time. So I had to approach people to ask for help. Fortunately, the staff there were very helpful and they really helped me a lot. Eventually, I found my booth and samples.

Nevertheless, I still had problem with setting up my booth. So I called my supervisor to ask for help. Anyway I was a new promoter and I had not gone through any training. My supervisor was kind enough to come all the way from Cheras to Wangsa Maju. He helped me to set up my booth and taught me how to talk to the customers and push sales.

Kellogg's sample

So I just started promoting to any customers who bypassed my booth. It was quite a tedious and tiring job. However I did enjoy pitching people about the benefit of purchasing my products. Hopefully this could improve my selling skill. As what great entrepreneurs said, “you need to know how to sell before becoming a business owner.”

In addition, I made some friends there, Kah Heng and Pei Pei. They were both very friendly and easy-going. We had lunch together and we talked a lot of stuff during the recess time. Both of them are older than me one year and they have much more working experience than me. They share a common point which is they love Dota and pool. I seldom play Dota and have never played pool so I could not really discuss with them when they talked about all these things. They understood it as well so they just changed to another conversation topic that suited me.

In conclusion, I realize that it is very hard to earn money from solely working. Sometimes you just cannot get the job satisfaction. What I want is to become an entrepreneur that has absolute freedom and self-actualization. I will treat this two day job as my valuable experience.
