How To Send Your Friends Physical Greeting Cards Online Without Paying A Single Cent?
Posted by Su Sheng Loong on 20 Jun 2008 at 11:30 pm | Tagged as: Web 2.0
Sending greeting cards is probably one of the best ways of expressing your gratitude or keeping in touch with your friends or relatives. With the advancement of technology, people tend to use electronic version of greeting cards instead of the conventional physical one. Well, it is of course more environmental-friendly to use the digital products such as SMS, MMS, email, e-greeting cards and so fourth. However, many people would like to receive physical greeting cards. They perceive the physical greeting cards carrying more sincerity than the electronic cards in which you can’t really touch.
I believe all Malaysians are aware that the inflation rate in Malaysia has increased dramatically due to the sudden fuel price increase. Everything in Malaysia has increased in terms of price, not efficiency ironically. So it could be very expensive for you to purchase many physical greeting cards to send to your dear friends and relatives. Therefore, I am going to introduce a website here, called Enveluv.com.
Enveluv.com is a new website founded by a team of Malaysians. This website allows you to send physical greeting cards to whoever by doing only four steps online.
You just have to choose a card design, write your message, fill in your recipient’s address and then send your card by clicking on the “Send” button. It is as easy as learning ABC. What important is that enveluv.com does not charge money for any greeting cards you send. So how does it make money from? Well, enveluv.com earns money from advertising. For each greeting cards sent, there will be advertisements shown on the back of the envelopes.
I tried using it before to send a card to my father. So I am going to give some comments here about the website. The website is pretty cool with its what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) mode of selecting greeting cards and it is dead simple. So it is definitely another Web 2.0 style of website. However, the website is still new and thus there are too little templates available for selection. Besides, you do not really have control over the date in which the greeting cards reach the recipient’s address. The good news is that one of the founders did announce that they will be adding new functions whereby we can design the cards on our own, whether we want to add in our pictures or more customized graphics. Besides, you can also contact the customer support by mailing them about the date you wish the greeting cards to reach at the recipient’s house.
The idea of sending physical greeting cards without paying money is really awesome. Hopefully the management team can manage to upgrade the website as soon as possible so that we can enjoy more advanced functions. There are more and more Malaysians starting their Internet businesses like what the founders of enveluv.com do. Maybe you can treat this website as a case study for you to venture into the Internet business world.

Yes, free e-cards are common as the production does not really involve any cost. Of course paid e-cards have better design or customized services.
Very cool website! Thank you for sharing.
