Maxis Broadband Promotion

Yesterday, I went to Carrefour with my girlfriend. While we were rambling around the shops, we came to a Maxis booth. I have been blogging for quite some time and yet I still do not have a Internet connection. In order to update my blog, I have to bring my laptop to college or cafe that provides wireless Internet connection. That is why I keep asking my readers to buy me a Starbuck coffee (just joking)!
Maxis has got two products, one is the mobile phone network, whereas another one is broadband service. Since I am in need of getting a brodband, I approached one of the promoters there and asked him about the latest promotion of Maxis broadband.
The male promoter told me that Maxis is indeed having a new promotion, called Maxis Postpaid Bolt-On Promotion. Well, you should realize that the plan is designed and catered for the Maxis postpaid users. In fact, I am a Maxis postpaid user as well so it does not cause me any problem.
The new promotion is quite attractive to me. If I sign up for this plan, I could only pay RM118 instead of RM138 every month. It means I could save RM20 every month and still use the service as usual. I wanted to register it but I realized that my Maxis postpaid account is actually a supplementary line. The Maxis account was registered under my father’s name. So I needed to call and ask my dad whether he allowed me to register it.
Too bad my father told me that he wanted to check things out properly before he allows me to register it. After all, the payment of RM118 every month is still considered as expensive when compared to the Streamyx broadband.
Some people asked me to go for the Streamyx broadband but I think it is not useful for me since I am using a laptop and I always have to bring it to other places. Besides, it is cool to have such a tiny USB modem that connects the laptop to the Internet. Hopefully I can get it soon!
If you like reading my blog, please support me by buying me a Starbuck coffee so that I can use its Internet connection to update my blog. Lol!Related Entries

Actually if you compare the speed between Streamyx Broadband and Maxis Broadband I’d suggest Streamyx. 1M Streamyx speed which cost RM88 is better than 3M++ Maxis Broadband speed. And instead of using Maxis Broadband, why don’t you use Celcom Broadband? The coverage is wider. Maxis Broadband doesn’t cover the whole Malaysia which Celcom Broadband does.
Just my 10 cents.
I din kno celcom broadband so nice de..
sheng loong,
maxis broadband hor, u nid to check properly leh… coz if i rmbr the RM118 is something like a promotional period onli.. meaning u sign up, so u will pay that amount for a period of time, maybe 3-6 months, after that, the bill will auto go back to the usual amount RM138.. something like dat… i saw that during PC fair..
the speed oso slower lor.. 386kbps onli.. compared to streamyx 1Mbps..
Faisal: Actually before this I wanted to get a Streamyx broadband. But Streamyx broadband is not as mobile as the USB modem. I need to travel to many places with my laptop. Are you sure Celcom is better? If yes, then I would probably go for Celcom instead. I don’t know much about Celcom because I am a Maxis user.
Teddy: Really? Thanks for informing me about this. I better check it thoroughly. However, the speed of the Maxis USB broadband is said to be up to 3.6 Mbps. Perhaps it could be faster at area which have 3G coverage.
There are a few wireless package available in town. Namely Maxis, Celcom, U-Mobile, Izzi, etc. Well, uMobile and iZZZi is only restricted to KL areas. Maxis has got a lot of complaints and Celcom seems to be the best bet. Speed wise, nobody can tell unless u check it out yourself at your favourite haunts. Some offer 3.5 G but not every place has got this, so I would rather try my luck on Celcom with $68/mth or $99/mth. Good luck.
If I am not mistaken, Celcom’s USB Broadband only has two prices, one is RM99 and another one is RM129. I guess I should really go for Celcom broadband.
A warning from one consumer to another:
DO NOT SIGN UP TO MAXIS BROADBAND!
If you love your kids, don’t let them use Maxis broadband.
Kids who surf slower, learn slower and with the added pressure from having an unstable internet connection and constant disconnection could lead them to having suicidal tendencies at such a young age.
IF YOU LOVE YOUR KIDS, SAY NO TO MAXIS BROADBAND!
