Work Work Work…

Ever since I was born, I have never taken any job. Therefore, I have ZERO working experience. Last few week, one of my classmates, Chin Hong said that he needed someone to replace him for his part time job on last weekend. I was thinking that this could be a good chance for me to gain some working experience. So I said, “hey, why not give me a try?”
That classmate of mine was more than willingly to pass his job to me. After few weeks until last Saturday, I went to the working avenue to start my very first part time job. The place was at Jusco and it is pretty near to where I am staying now. As I was new to there, I reached there quite early to ensure that I would not be late.
My job was to promote Kellogg’s products. After registering at the staff counter, my very first task was to find all my tools and samples. I kept searching for my booth and samples for quite some time. I was under a hot sun and at a very unhygienic place. After searching for about half an hour, I started to get anxious as I was supposed to start promoting at that time. So I had to approach people to ask for help. Fortunately, the staff there were very helpful and they really helped me a lot. Eventually, I found my booth and samples.
Nevertheless, I still had problem with setting up my booth. So I called my supervisor to ask for help. Anyway I was a new promoter and I had not gone through any training. My supervisor was kind enough to come all the way from Cheras to Wangsa Maju. He helped me to set up my booth and taught me how to talk to the customers and push sales.

So I just started promoting to any customers who bypassed my booth. It was quite a tedious and tiring job. However I did enjoy pitching people about the benefit of purchasing my products. Hopefully this could improve my selling skill. As what great entrepreneurs said, “you need to know how to sell before becoming a business owner.”
In addition, I made some friends there, Kah Heng and Pei Pei. They were both very friendly and easy-going. We had lunch together and we talked a lot of stuff during the recess time. Both of them are older than me one year and they have much more working experience than me. They share a common point which is they love Dota and pool. I seldom play Dota and have never played pool so I could not really discuss with them when they talked about all these things. They understood it as well so they just changed to another conversation topic that suited me.
In conclusion, I realize that it is very hard to earn money from solely working. Sometimes you just cannot get the job satisfaction. What I want is to become an entrepreneur that has absolute freedom and self-actualization. I will treat this two day job as my valuable experience.

Ur last paragraph is what Robert Kiyosaki likes to say.. hahaha…
dont just depend on a full time job, but find something that can get in the money even when u dont bother it..
hehe..
hey, im oso looking into such opportunities recently.. hahaha… trying to understand how share market works, bonds, mutual funds n stuff.. haha.. have been pestering my friend studying Investing Management in Singapore a lot recently.. hahha…
c ya…
You are right, Robert Kiyosaki said this before and I strongly agree with what he wrote in Rich Dad Poor Dad.
The idea is to teach people don’t work for money, instead let money work for us. People just spend too much time on working but fail to develop a system that allows them to utilize their money and expertise to work for them.
That’s good. At least you have a different mindset with other same age students. Perhaps I can learn some investing tips from you in the future!
Thank you for visiting my blog!
Woah, you even got yourself a domain name? Are you paying for it or something? xD
Its been so long since I last saw you. One year right? Anyway, as a Bio student I don’t know and won’t pretend to know much about business, but you knew that right? Haha, and you finally got yourself a part time job too.
So, keep updating! Blogging is very fun. See you as soon as possible and remember to call me when you get back. xD
I like this post. I agree with your point.
To be honest I’m stuck with my job now. I plan to work for 1 or 2 years and quit. Gaining some experience, save money for business capital and get a business.
End up I’m stuck at tax company for about 4 years now. I try to reduce debt and saving more but it becomes harder and harder each day.
To have a good plan for financial is the best but action on getting a business must be followed as well.
The mindset by piece of paper works I guess.
I haven’t done so but will do tonight.
I will write on a piece of paper my goal and paste them on my door. So that every morning when I wake up I will have a good focus before starting my day.
God bless.
Hi,
Ezra: I bought my own domain name and web host for few hundred bucks. We have not played basketball together for more than two years I guess. Hopefully we can meet up and have a basketball game again. Actually I do not know much about business. I just know some fundamental knowledge in Business and have great passion in it. Blogging is absolutely fun! See you in JB!
Faisal: Personally I also have problem with saving. I just feel I have not enough money to spend. Wish you good luck in achieving your financial freedom!
All the Best!!!
Haha I think about you when I read page 64 [chapter 4] — Why we want you to be rich by Trump and Kiyosaki. Remember the book I post in my blog?
“If you are in business you need to learn how to sell”
Good part.
I actually read that book twice and like it very much. It is written by the two business giants.
That is why I took up the part time job. It was a tough work, but I was trained to sell!
